A comparitive video of two overcharge tests carried out on two different rechargeable lithium-based cells.

The batteries examined here have similar charge capacity, but behave very differently when overcharged.

The calorimeter provides a strong enclosed chamber for dangerous tests such as these as well as an adiabatic environment to quantify heat production.

The new EV+ calorimeter has a built in video-facility as well as many other battery performance and safety testing facilities.
